3D printing for series parts – A headlight for the “Sherpa” from Genkinger
published on 15. April 2024
3D printing for the Genkinger “Sherpa”, 3D printing for serial parts? Of course!
At the end of 2023, the special-purpose vehicle manufacturer Genkinger was faced with a new challenge. They had to integrate a new headlight for its “Sherpa” small goods transporter. The requirements were clear: 1. the light has to fit precisely into the sloping front of the vehicle. 2. It has all the necessary approvals for possible road use. At the same time, the implementation should be carried out quickly in order to meet the project schedule.
In close cooperation with Genkinger, J.Führ decided to use model 8415 as the suitable headlight. To meet the specific installation requirements. We then developed a customized mounting bezel in a very short time. Thanks to state-of-the-art 3D printing technology, this bracket could not only be prototyped quickly, but also transferred directly to series production.
Insights at the Logimat
At LogiMAT 2024, Karl Ebnet, Genkinger’s representative, spoke positively about the collaboration: “Genkinger thrives on the speed of its suppliers so that projects can be implemented quickly. The decision to implement the project with J.Führ was a good one.” This project highlights how the targeted use of 3D printing in series production enables customized and efficient solutions.
