Ground (electronics)

In an electrical system, a conductive body is assigned a zero potential, the so-called ground or earth. All other occurring voltages are defined in relation to this zero potential. The ground is the common connection of all components and is usually represented in vehicles by the negative pole connected to the body, so that all signal currents can usually be connected to ground in a single wire.

In vehicle construction, the ground is designated by definition as “terminal 31”.
