Road approval

In order for a vehicle to be allowed to participate in public road traffic, different technical conditions must be fulfilled depending on the country. These are described by the registration authorities in mostly comprehensive regulations.

In the European Union, the ECE regulations apply, in North America the rules of the Department of Transportation (DOT).
