Gas discharge lamp

In contrast to incandescent lamps and halogen lamps, in gas discharge lamps, there is no filament that is made to glow, but the gas filling of the discharge tube as a whole. For this purpose, a voltage is applied to two electrodes at opposite ends of the discharge tube, which then makes the gas glow in the form of an electric arc or a discharge arc. The common kinds of gas discharge lamps are neon tubes and xenon lamps.
